SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse police say two men were shot on the city’s South Side shortly after an AutoZone Auto Parts store less than a mile away also was shot.
A 39-year-old man was shot in the torso and arm, and a 45-year-old man was shot in the leg at 1:04 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of W. Calthrop Ave., Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said.
Both men were conscious and breathing at the scene, and taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries.
Less than 10 minutes earlier, at 12:56 a.m., Syracuse police responded to the AutoZone Auto Parts, at 4004 S. Salina St., for a shots fired call. When they arrived, officers found several shell casings near the business. A bullet had struck and damaged the store’s window, but no one was hurt, Malinowski said.
About two hours earlier, at 11:16 p.m. Saturday, Syracuse police investigated another shots fired call — in which two houses were struck by bullets — in the area of Whitwell Drive and Farmer Street, Malinowski said. No injuries were reported, but police found several shell casings in the area, he said.
Syracuse police say they are continuing to investigate who shot at the houses and at the AutoZone store, as well as who shot the two men overnight. Police ask anyone with information to call them at (315) 442-5222 or send information to their Syracuse PD tips app.
